About Me

A woman with long dark wavy hair sitting on a wooden stool against a plain white background. She is dressed in a white off-shoulder top and beige pants, with her hands resting on her lap. She is wearing gold jewelry including earrings, bracelets, and rings.

I’m Olivia Hancock, a beauty journalist, podcast host, and senior editor at Byrdie.

In my role, I shape Byrdie’s beauty coverage—writing and editing trending stories, testing the buzziest products, and championing diverse voices that push the industry forward. When I’m not typing away, you’ll find me behind the mic hosting The Hue Report, where I have candid conversations with inspiring Black beauty founders and creators.

I fell in love with journalism as a young girl, spending my childhood filling notebooks with stories and poring over glossy magazines. By high school, I was already contributing to lifestyle and entertainment outlets, including Pretty Girls Sweat (formerly Teen Diaries). Those early experiences led me to intern at Byrdie in the summers of 2019 and 2020, cementing my passion for beauty journalism and my mission to amplify diversity and representation in the industry.

In addition to Byrdie, my writing has appeared on Shape, Hello Giggles, Atlanta Magazine, xoNecole, 21Ninety, and Her Campus, among other publications. Along the way, I’ve also interviewed some of entertainment’s most captivating voices, including Tracee Ellis Ross, Yara Shahidi, Serena Williams, Kelly Rowland, and Kerry Washington.

Where I’ve Spoken

I’m deeply passionate about public speaking—sharing my experiences in beauty and media with audiences who inspire me just as much as I hope to inspire them. I’ve had the privilege of speaking at events like ENVSN Fest, Her Conference, Black in Fashion Council, and Black Girls in Media, where I’ve led conversations on representation, storytelling, and building a fulfilling career in the beauty industry. Whether I’m addressing a room of students, emerging creatives, or industry leaders, my goal is always to leave listeners feeling informed, empowered, and seen.

Brands I’ve Worked With

I love to bring beauty stories to life through TikTok, Instagram, editorial articles, and even live events, creating content that’s engaging and informative. Over the years, I’ve teamed up with brands like Neutrogena, Clinique, Olay, CoverGirl, Milani, and Ulta Beauty.
